Barakoa Bookends-Alabaster-White
Why We Love This
Barakoa, meaning mask in Swahili, references objects shaped by ritual and identity. Carved from Italian abalaster, the bookends express personality and translucency-relief and volume interacting with light to create a quiet visual language. Offered in natural white and a vivid green variation dyed to evoke arid-edge flora, the pair functions as both anchor and artifact. The green recalls lichen, salt-bright new growth, and living matter that persists in arid landscapes-an expression of life translated for a contemporary interior.
